Uplifting Outcome of “Give God Glory” Conventions in Canada

CANADA—Jehovah’s Witnesses have completed their series of 23 “Give God Glory” District Conventions for 2003 in seven different provinces. A grand total of 144,246 were in attendance, and 982 new members were baptized. About one quarter of the individuals attending the three-day program were not Jehovah’s Witnesses but interested Bible students, visitors, and observers who wanted to hear the free Bible-based program.

This year, one more convention, a four-day event held at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, Quebec, was designated an international convention. Over 37,000 attended, including many visitors and missionaries from other lands. Delegates from the Maritimes, Quebec and Ontario, as well as 2,400 delegates from ten French-speaking European and Caribbean countries were there. More than 70 Canadian missionaries serving abroad returned to their homeland for this convention. The program was given simultaneously in English, French and Portuguese.

Mark Ruge, national spokesman for the Witnesses in Canada, notes: “This large gathering was a fine occasion for local families to make new friends with foreign delegates. It afforded a fine opportunity for the local and visiting delegates to experience the spirit of unity within our international brotherhood. No matter where we come from, this convention helped all of us give God glory in our everyday lives.”

This International Convention was one of 30 such international gatherings held in 29 cities in 14 countries. All conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses are presented free of charge.

There are over 110,000 Witnesses in Canada.
