Witnesses begin series of conventions nationwide
NEW YORKThis week, Jehovah's Witnesses will hold the first four of 211 convention programs in major cities across the United States. For 2004, the theme of their three-day convention is "Walk With God."
The first conventions scheduled for the United States will be held May 28-30, 2004, in Bakersfield, California; De Kalb, Illinois; Long Beach, California; and West Palm Beach, Florida. Subsequently, the series will continue throughout the country each week through September 12, ultimately being held in 63 U.S. cities. "We are very excited about the programs," states William Van De Wall, coordinator of the Witnesses' activity in the United States. "The convention always features practical and timely information for all who attend."
"Those who attended last year's conventions were glad they bought out time from their schedules to be there," notes J. R. Brown, a national spokesman for Jehovah's Witnesses. "We were pleased with the response last year, and are confident that those who attend this year will be equally pleased they came."
In the United States, the program will be presented in 15 languages. All are invited to attend free of charge, since there is no admission fee or collections taken at any convention or meeting of Jehovah's Witnesses. There are nearly 1,000,000 Witnesses in the United States.
